ACL (Australian Credit Licence)

The licence that lets a business legally arrange home loans in Australia.

What is ACL?

An Australian Credit Licence is the licence issued by ASIC that allows a business to arrange or provide credit (including home loans) in Australia. Without an ACL — or an authorised credit representative arrangement with a licence holder — a business cannot legally broker loans.

How it works in practice

ACL holders must meet ongoing conduct, training and dispute-resolution requirements. Most mortgage brokers operate under someone else's ACL as an authorised credit representative (ACR). Wity is ACR 508333 under ACL 531736 held by NF84 Pty Ltd.

Why it matters for you

Before engaging any broker, check they hold an ACL or are an authorised rep of someone who does. ASIC Connect lets you verify this in 30 seconds. It's your first line of consumer protection.
