Deposit

The cash portion you bring to a purchase — drives rate, LMI, and eligibility.

What is Deposit?

A deposit is the cash portion of a property purchase — paid upfront from your savings (not borrowed). Typical deposits: 20% to avoid LMI, 5–10% with LMI, 2–5% under some government schemes. Medical professionals under Wity's medico policy can go to 10% with no LMI.

Why it matters for you

Deposit size drives rate pricing, LMI cost, loan product eligibility and negotiating power. Bigger deposit ≠ always better — sometimes using a smaller deposit and keeping cash in offset works harder. The "right" deposit depends on your full financial picture.
