Equity

Your property's value minus what you owe — the biggest wealth lever most households have.

What is Equity?

Equity is the difference between your property's current market value and what you still owe on it. A $1M home with a $600K loan = $400K equity. Equity builds through repayments (shrinking the loan) and market growth (lifting the value).

Why it matters for you

Equity is your wealth lever. You can access it (via equity release or refinance) to buy an investment property, renovate, consolidate debt, or debt-recycle. For most Australian households, home equity is the biggest asset on the balance sheet.
