First Home Super Saver Scheme (FHSS)

Save for a deposit through super at concessional 15% tax rates.

What is FHSS?

FHSS lets first-home buyers make voluntary super contributions — up to $15,000 per year, $50,000 lifetime — and later withdraw them (with associated earnings) for a home deposit. Contributions are taxed at 15% instead of your marginal rate — a big saving for high earners.

Why it matters for you

Ideal for high-income professionals, particularly doctors and dentists, who can afford to salary-sacrifice pre-tax. Savings of $3K–$8K per year in tax are realistic. Requires ATO release authority before withdrawal — which takes time, so plan ahead.
