Upfront Costs

Every expense on top of your deposit — stamp duty, conveyancing, inspections.

What is Upfront Costs?

Upfront costs are all the expenses to buy a property beyond the deposit — including stamp duty, conveyancing, building and pest inspections, loan establishment fees, mortgage registration, title search, and moving costs.

Why it matters for you

On a $1M purchase, expect $40K–$60K in upfront costs on top of the deposit. Budget them in from day one — don't plan to fund them from savings leftover after deposit. For first-home buyers, stamp duty concessions and FHOG can reduce upfront cost meaningfully.
